Rachel Newcombe
Writer, editor and researcher
An award-winning UK-based freelance writer, editor and researcher of non-fiction
articles for online and print media, plus digital TV. I specialise in
health, parenting and lifestyle issues and also enjoy covering topics
such as education, travel, property and writing. I've worked for a wide
range of companies in the UK and internationally, from well-known magazines
and household names, to small charities and businesses.
My clients include BUPA, Channel 4, Boots, First, Slimming World, The Times, The Telegraph, The Sunday Telegraph, Lighter Life, Discovery Health, Living Abroad, Dial, Kelloggs Special K, Child Education, Learning Support, International Living, Babyworld, Norwich Union and Handbag.com.
As far as editing work goes, I recently wrote and edited Buying Abroad, a special property supplement distributed with the Sunday Telegraph in May 2008, and am currently working on a second issue to be published in September 2008.
I was also editor of a property newsletter, Emerging Europe Property Insider, until earlier in 2008. In the past I edited Health Today Magazine and ghost-edited a parenting magazine. Other recent work has included writing and editing several non-fiction books on health, parenting and fitness topics - "Running," published by Parragon, was released in the US in April 2008.
I won the online journalism award in the 2004 Medical Journalism Awards (Norwich Union Healthcare / Medical Journalists' Association).
